“Vampire Diaries” is currently on hiatus on CW 6 Channel 6 in Tempe, but that hasn’t stopped the cast talking about the series. In a recent interview, Nina Dobrev talks about the series and what it is like to play two characters on it – Katherine and Elena. When she first auditioned for the series, it was for Elena, and she didn’t find out she would also play Katherine until she was reading scripts as the series progressed. The actress talked about how she manages to play both characters on the series. That cannot be an easy task. She said the following about what she has to do in order to play both successfully, according to Fancast: “The clothes, accessories, hair, and all those seemingly superficial details really help me transition and embrace whichever role I’m playing. For example, if I’m rocking a pair of Converse I can sink into Elena, but if I’m wearing some edgy boots, I naturally begin not only walking but I also feel like Katherine. I think the motivation behind both characters is very different. For Elena it’s the people she cares about. She would do anything for her friends and family. For Katherine, it’s self-preservation. Really, she’s just looking out for herself and only herself.”
